Art Direction
The period, the palette and the story of a space. Moodboards come early so everyone signs off on the same picture.
Luis Martinez · Prop Master · Art Department
Hollywood art department. Around the clock.
247 Sets is the art department of Luis Martinez: set construction, set dressing and props for film, TV, commercials, music videos and live broadcast. For more than a decade he's taken scripts off the page and built them in three dimensions, from Severance and The Studio to the Super Bowl and the Grammys.
Studios & networks: Warner Bros. · Universal · Paramount · Apple TV+ · Amazon MGM Studios · Netflix · HBO · FX
Luis knows what a '74 body shop, a '90s bedroom or a firehouse kitchen really looked like. He grew up around a lot of it and has spent his career getting the rest right, down to the year.
He pairs that eye with tools most art departments don't have yet: shared lookbooks, live prop lists, and truck math done before the first pickup. The result is a set that looks right, lands on budget and shows up on time.
The name is the promise: around the clock. Construction schedules don't keep office hours, and neither does he.
Reliable is the whole job. He answers the phone, he's there at call time, and what he says will be on set is on set.
A full-service art department. One call covers the look, the build, the props and the truck.
The period, the palette and the story of a space. Moodboards come early so everyone signs off on the same picture.
Flats, facades and full standing sets, from blueprint to wrap, built by carpenters, painters and scenic artists he's worked with for years.
Rooms that look lived in: the right clutter, the right wear, the right year.
Hero props, multiples, practicals and continuity, tracked from pickup to return.
His own prop house first, then the major LA prop houses, vendors, makers and collectors. If it doesn't exist, he builds it.
Picture cars through LA car clubs and private owners, graffiti artists with signed releases, sneakers and hip hop culture that get the era right.
A retired firefighter. Real turnout gear and firehouse dressing, and a trained eye on flame props, extinguishers and exits, alongside your fire safety officer.
Crew, schedule and budget kept on track across departments. He drives the truck and works off his own prop cart, so there's one person to call from pickup to wrap.
Modern where it saves you time. Old-school where it counts.
Script breakdown, references and a first call with production design. Budget and schedule come up on day one, not at wrap.
Visual direction before money gets spent, so the look is agreed early and the sourcing has a target.
Every element in a shared online lookbook with options A, B and C: photo, size, source and rate. Designers and producers pick and comment from any phone, and every choice is saved with a name and date.
One live list with quantities, dimensions, weekly rates and totals. It exports to a spreadsheet or PDF any time, so the numbers are never a surprise.
The 247 Sets prop house, then Warner Bros. Property, Universal, History for Hire, Hand Prop Room, Prop Heaven and LA's specialty vendors, searched side by side.
Cubic feet calculated from the list, the right size truck booked the first time, and pick-up sheets grouped by location.
Install, dress and strike. Rentals go back on time with the paperwork closed, so nothing sits on a rental clock.
The studio gets the look it wants, the producer gets numbers they can stand behind, and everyone knows where things are.

Born and raised in LA.
Luis grew up in Los Angeles around lowriders, boxing gyms, Sunday fútbol and '70s, '80s and '90s hip hop. He's proud of his Latino roots and works in English or Spanish with crews, vendors, locations and neighbors.
He's a retired firefighter, and it shows in how he runs a set. He's worked as prop master, art director, set designer, set builder and in casting, across film, TV, commercials, music videos and live broadcast.
More than a decade in, he has a network of film professionals he trusts: carpenters, scenic painters, set dressers, drivers, picture-car owners, artists and the prop houses themselves. When a job grows overnight, so does the crew.
Two tools built for the way he works, open to the productions he works with.
Cars, motorcycles, sports, athletics, hip hop, LA culture, and fire and rescue gear. Every piece is photographed, measured and priced. Build a pull list and send it straight to your lookbook.
